Notes from the sweep

The week to August 22, 2026

What the sweep turned up, and what it passed over.

The slush this week had a new tell: repos titled like search results. "Best 2026 Browser RPG," "Best New PSX Horror Walking Sim Games Like Vacancy 2026," "Idle AI Empire 2026: 924-Test Devlog Suite" — READMEs written for a crawler, filed under game topics, with nothing at the end of the link. They arrived in runs, several days deep, which suggests one generator rather than many optimists.

Underneath that, the reliable strata held: snake, Tetris, Flappy Bird, Asteroids, Pac-Man, another AI-assisted voxel sandbox, a js13k starter template. And the JSON-to-filesystem converter appeared five days out of seven, always via the same bad topic match, never once a game. At this point it feels less like a mistake and less like a resident. Four itch entries opened onto a launcher shell, a loading bar, or a 429 — which is the sweep's own limitation showing, not theirs.
