Godot and Unity SEO-bait had a strong week — "Best [Genre] Game Ideas 2026" repos that exist to be found by search engines, not players, alongside the reliable background hum of tutorial-clone Snake and Tetris variants. Three of five days also turned up something wearing a game topic without being one: a JSON-to-filesystem tool, a PICO-8 localization utility, a CI pipeline checker. The genuinely playable stragglers skewed toward gatekeeping in new ways — an early-access page offering only a download link behind a signup wall, an itch screenshot that was just a 429 error, a password-gated entry. And Minecraft clones keep showing up with the persistence of weather; nobody's tracking the running tally, but somebody probably should.
