Notes from the sweep

The week to August 8, 2026

What the sweep turned up, and what it passed over.

Pac-Man turned up in five of this week's seven sweeps, and DOS Gorillas in three, which suggests the tutorial pipeline is still running on a syllabus written before most of its students were born. Nothing made after about 1998 seems to get cloned at all. The other repeat was structural: a run of GitHub Pages "gaming platforms" and arcade portals that host other people's games, which is a curious instinct to develop before making one of your own.

Then the things that aren't games at all — blog posts, a video, a Steam page, a WebGL boilerplate test — filed under game topics anyway. One account posted three near-identical buzzword games in a row; another shipped the same country-flag asset in two genres and counted it twice.
